I am tired of the smoking rhetoric that I see again and again in The Star.

You have to be an idiot to deny the health consequences of cigarette smoking. Here is the rub: Those that smoke do themselves terrible physical damage, and it is up to the taxpayer to bail them out when they reach Medicare-eligible age. Smokers are responsible for the unbelievable drag on our nation’s health-care system. Smokers feed their addiction for years and then end their lives with emphysema, cancer, heart disease and other illnesses.

Smokers cost me and the rest of the American taxpayers billions of dollars every year. It is time to outlaw the manufacture and sale of cigarettes once and for all. You do not have the right to smoke when you cost the rest of us money. This new message to America about smoking needs to come to us from our newly elected president, who happens to be a cigarette smoker.
